Biography

Satan's Pilgrims was formed by a group of Portland friends and roommates in 1992, primarily to play house parties. By the next year they began playing Portland at large. The name of the band is a take-off on the 1960's biker exploitation film "Satan's Sadists". The band wears matching outfits including vampire capes.

The band is grounded in traditional 60's surf music but also are heavily influenced by Pacific Northwest bands such as The Ventures, The Sonics, The Wailers, and The Kingsmen. The band is somewhat unusual in that it sports three guitar players. Dave Pilgrim is also known to switch from guitar to organ for certain songs.

The band toured the US extensively in the 1990's and made (?) trips to Europe. Bobby Pilgrim amicably left the group in 1998, and the band released their self-titled album in this two-guitar lineup in 1999.

The band went on hiatus starting in 2000 after drummer Ted Pilgrim moved to Memphis. After a few years on break, the band reformed and recorded a few new tracks for their 2004 MuSick Records compilation "Plymouth Rock, The Best of Satan's Pilgrims". Bobby Pilgrim returned to the band and they began playing out again, touring both the West and East Coasts.

Pyschsploitation was released in 2009 and featured the bands take on Ventures-styled psychedelic garage music.
